Updated Routine

Not quite a year ago, I shared my regular routine. I did end up working at the local paddlesports shop and my schedule on those days was to get up around 6:30 AM, eat breakfast and peruse the interweb, hop in the shower at 7:30 AM and then leave the house to arrive at work at 8:45 AM or so. I worked until 5:30 PM and then headed home for dinner and time with husband. I worked several days a week up until the arrival of Bebe and post-parental departure, Bebe (now 12 weeks old!) and I’ve settled into a nice routine that looks something like this…

  • Wake up at 7 AM and immediately nurse Bebe – Lately, husband’s been bringing Bebe to me while I’m still in bed and Bebe and I cuddle while he eats
  • 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM – Change/dress Bebe, dress myself, play with Bebe and eat breakfast while Bebe gets in some solo play time
  • 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM – Bebe naps and I exercise, shower, catch up on world events, drink tea, tidy house (read: do laundry, unload/load dishwasher, put away shoes, etc…), and recharge my batteries for next play time. Every day is slightly different and definitely doesn’t include all of these things each day
  • 10:30 AM to Noon – Bebe eats and then play time
  • Noon to 2:00 PM – Bebe naps and I continue working on tasks from earlier nap time (see above) including eating lunch
  • 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM – Bebe eats and then play time
  • 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM – Bebe naps and I continue working on tasks from earlier nap time (see above). If I go for a walk instead of exercising at home, it’s during this time frame
  • 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM – Bebe eats and then play time
  • 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM – Bebe naps and husband and I cook and eat dinner
  • 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM – Bebe gets a bath, gets dressed and fed, and then goes down for the night
  • 8:30 PM to bedtime – We clean the kitchen, read books/watch TV, and then go to bed. Bedtime is generally between 9:15 PM and 10 PM
  • Between 1 AM and 4 AM – Bebe wakes up to be fed and I’m up with him for about a half hour

Husband is still going to the gym most mornings and for that, he gets up at 5 AM. Depending on how late in the morning Bebe wakes to eat, I sometimes slip into the guest room for my last few hours of sleep so his alarm clock and gym departure don’t wake me (too much). Also, Bebe doesn’t always nap for the full nap times so his waking times are squishy, but we stick pretty firm to the feeding times unless he’s completely inconsolable.

Let’s close out this post with a picture of adorableness:

July 2014 Recap

Winter truly arrived here in Canberra in July. While no where near as harsh at the winters back home, the temps and dry are can be uncomfortable. Here come the bullets…

  • Attended the Embassy’s 4th of July celebration on 2 July and visited with wonderful friends
  • Doubled down on the walks and started racking up the step count
  • Threw in some kettlebell and bodyweight work there at the end of the month
  • Settled into a weekday of Mom + Bebe routine and switched Bebe’s schedule
  • Bebe’s consistently waking once a night to eat with only the occasional night of two wakeups–primarily on days where naps were inconsistent or didn’t happen
  • Successfully had a couple of at home movie date nights
  • Bebe received a clean bill of health at his two month vaccination appointment and took those shots like a champ
  • Husband and I survived post-vaccination crankiness
  • Bebe consistently started rolling from his tummy to his back and by the end of the month, discovered his hands

June 2014 Recap

June was a blur. At the beginning of the month, we were eagerly waiting for my parents to arrive to see the bebe and next time I turned around, they were gone.

Here’s the rest of the month in bullets:

  • We got bebe on a schedule and everyone started feeling better as we were able to get some sleep
  • Watching my parents with bebe was a wonderful blessing and I’m so thankful to have video of their first meeting
  • Date nights with hubby while my mother was here to have her own date nights with bebe
  • Bebe’s first (regular) doctor’s visit was good and he’s healthy
  • Getting cleared to drive post-birth
  • Trips to Old Bus Depot Market, EPIC Farmer’s Market, and the Belconnen Fresh Markets
  • Starting to go on walks
