How I Work

Today's repeating patternInspired by the Lifehacker series and Mark Britz’s personal post, I thought I’d give this a shot, since my posting has been non-existant for months. #yaytonewcontent

Location: For 8 more days, Washington, DC area

Current Gig: Most recently, an ISD for a government contractor, stand-up paddleboard instructor, and client service independent contractor.

Current mobile device: Nexus 4

Current computer: 13″ MacBook Pro (mfg October 2012) and massive iMac desktop (circa 2010)

One word that best describes how you work: Intensely

What apps/software/tools can’t you live without?
Dropbox, Google Drive, Evernote, AIM, my Pomodoro timer, and Office

What’s your workspace like? When I went to an office, my desk was covered in notes and printed pages from technical manuals from which I was developing instruction. At home, I generally set up camp on the couch or sitting in bed. When on the water, my workspace is beautiful!

What’s your best time-saving trick? Working using a Pomodoro timer keeps me focused so I can knock out tons of work in a compressed time with minimal distractions.

What’s your favorite to-do list manager? Tasks in Outlook and stick notes.

Besides your phone and computer, what gadget can’t you live without? iPad

What everyday thing are you better at than anyone else? Making my husband laugh.

What do you listen to while you work? A massive playlist that refreshes based on how recently items were played from my iTunes library.

Are you more of an introvert or extrovert? Introvert all the way.

What’s your sleep routine like? Currently, down by 11 PM. Up by 7 AM.

Fill in the blank. I’d love to see ______ answer these same questions. My friends.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received? Remember where you came from and look at the big picture. (H/T to my parents)
